LIS 557: Documenting Diverse Cultures (Fall 2025)

This course supports my goals as a future public librarian by strengthening my understanding of cultural awareness, representation, and the importance of preserving diverse community histories. Through studying how libraries, archives, and cultural heritage institutions document marginalized communities, I developed a deeper appreciation for ethical information practices and inclusive collection development. The course also reinforced the role libraries play in preserving cultural memory and ensuring that historically underrepresented voices are recognized and accessible.
